The Way Church dream: Love God, Love life, Love community

“To create a growing family friendly Church relevant to all, that allows them to discover faith in Jesus and grow in faith.”

Hi, My Name is Rev Jonathan Moores and I am passionate about Jesus, my family and Bolton. I grew up a broken and lost young man, at 22 I felt I had nothing to live for and in my desperation, I cried out to God and his presence filled my bedroom in Westhoughton, Bolton and I began the journey towards Jesus. That following week I committed my life to become a follower of Jesus and my life began to be transformed, I found forgiveness, hope and purpose in Jesus.

I am a husband to Nicola my Wife, and father to six children. Our family is fun and happy and full of adventure when it comes to Faith and Church. God has taken us on a big journey from Bolton, to West Sussex, to Carlisle and back again to Bolton. This has been a church planting, fresh expression and revival rollercoaster. God has sent us to make disciples, revive his church and plant church. We have done this outside the Church of England and inside. I am an evangelical and Spirit-filled Christian seeking to bring others to faith in Jesus and build a Spirit-filled church.

My heart is for my hometown of Bolton, where less than 1% attend church and the trend amongst traditional churches is to close and decline. I want to be part of the solution, to firstly build a different kind of Church that can and will make a difference and secondly to play my part in transforming Bolton. Bolton has fallen on hard times and is but a shadow of what it once was, I want to see my town transformed in Jesus’ name and lives transformed.

My three-year interim role as a Church of England Vicar in Bolton has just come to an end and we have gathered a group of around 20 people who long for a different kind of Church with a vision to grow and transform Bolton. I am seeking personal support as we begin this journey and hope to be financially independent in 3-5 years. Would you be able to partner with us as we move to make this vision a reality? To see people come to faith in Jesus and Bolton transformed?
